Tata Sierra returns on November 25 with modern design and dual powertrains
Tata Motors has officially released teaser images of the all-new Tata Sierra, confirming the SUV’s comeback on November 25. The revived nameplate returns after more than two decades, marking the re-entry of one of Tata’s most iconic models, which was originally discontinued in 2003. Positioned above the Curvv in Tata’s SUV lineup, the Sierra will combine nostalgic design cues with modern styling and advanced technology.
Design and Exterior Highlights
The teasers showcase the distinctive silhouette of the Sierra, retaining key elements from the first-generation model such as the high-set bonnet, chunky B-pillars, and the signature wraparound rear-side windows. These classic design touches are paired with contemporary updates like full-width LED light bars at both ends, two-tone 19-inch alloy wheels, black cladding and pop-out door handles. The SUV also features silver skid plates, roof rails and ‘SIERRA’ branding on multiple panels, blending retro appeal with modern SUV proportions.
Premium Interior and Features
Inside, the Sierra gets a two-tone cabin with leather upholstery and a flat-bottom steering wheel finished in piano black. The SUV will feature a triple-screen dashboard setup integrated under a single curved glass panel, hinting at a tech-forward approach. Confirmed comfort features include a panoramic sunroof, rear-window sunblinds, LED cabin lighting and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.
Expected convenience and safety features include powered and ventilated seats, wireless charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree cameras and six airbags. The Sierra is expected to be a five-seater, offering ample boot space and flexible seating configurations.
Engine and Powertrain Options
Tata is expected to offer the new Sierra with a range of 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines, each paired with manual or automatic transmission options. Alongside these ICE variants, a fully electric Sierra EV will also be introduced later. The EV is expected to be offered with 55kWh and 65kWh battery packs, though official specifications remain under wraps.
Expected Pricing and Competitors
The ICE-powered Sierra is likely to be priced between Rs. 11 lakh and Rs. 20 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Sierra EV could start around Rs. 20 lakh, extending up to Rs. 25 lakh. Once launched, the SUV will take on models such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder, while its electric variant will compete with the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, Mahindra BE 6 and BYD Atto 3.
